WHAT IS IT?

A 50-year Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) tradition, where high school juniors and seniors, along with adult sponsors, travel to Washington D.C. and New York City, exposing participants to a larger world view and challenging them to gain an understanding of their responsibilities as Christians in our world.

WHO CAN GO?

Juniors and seniors in high school, at least 16 years of age, from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in Oklahoma, Southwest, and Great River Regions. 16 participants are needed for the trip to make.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

In Washington, D.C. we will worship at National City Christian Church, tour the Holocaust Museum, take a night bus tour of national monuments, visit museums and meet with international ambassadors and legislative delegations. In New York City, we will worship at the Riverside Christian Church and the UN interfaith chapel, visit the United Nations, attend challenging seminars, and see a Broadway musical.

HOW WILL WE GET THERE?

We will meet Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport to fly as a group to Washington, D.C. From Washington, D.C. we will travel by passenger train to New York City. We will return by air from New York City to Dallas/Ft. Worth on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Transportation to & from DFW is not included; participants are responsible for their own transportation to & from the airport.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Seminar cost is $1,500 which includes airfare, Amtrak from DC to NYC, insurance, lodging, materials, speakers, the Broadway musical, an off Broadway show, and a night bus tour of DC. Participants will need a minimum of $450 for meals and other items not included in the registration fee (shopping, sightseeing, subway fares, etc.) Scholarship aid might be available through your area, district, region or local church and civic groups. A $500 deposit is required by January 2, 2009 (deadline has been extended).
