Francisco Lozada, Jr. Associate Professor of New Testament and Latina/o Church Studies at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. He holds a doctorate in New Testament and Early Christianity from Vanderbilt University. He is former co-chair of the Johannine Literature Section and, currently chair of the program committee of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL). He serves as chair of the Johannine Literature Section of the International Meeting of SBL. He is a past president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States, and a member of the Bible, Indigeneous Group of the American Academy of Religion (AAR). He also served as a New Testament doctoral mentor for the Hispanic Theological Initiative (HTI). Besides several articles and chapters, Dr. Lozada has published, A Literary Reading of John 5: Text as Construction (2000), and New Currents Through John: A Global Perspective (co-editor with Tom Thatcher, 2006). He teaches in the area of contemporary biblical hermeneutics, Johannine tradition, and Latinos/as church and society. Dr. Lozada is married to Wendi Lozada-Smith (Disciples of Christ) and they have two children.
